I am very concerned about the Education Department’s proposal to close St. Andrew’s School and felt compelled to write to raise a significant point which I’m not sure is coming across to the general public: the fact that these proposed changes will affect many more of the islands’ children than just those at St. Andrew’s.

All of the island’s school PTAs were invited to a meeting held on Thursday evening at St. Andrew’s School to discuss proposals to make radical changes to the island’s primary school system.
St. Andrew’s Primary colour blue ribbon is a sell out across the island. The blue ribbon popping up across the island has proved so popular it’s now sold out in all island florists.
St. Andrew’s PTA committee says that it heard nothing from Deputy Sillars or Mr Mulkerrin on today’s phone in that convinces it that Education has real strength to its arguments.

On Sunday 22 September, teachers, pupils and parents/carers of St. Andrew’s Primary School took a trip down to L’Eree for the annual clean-up. St. Andrews’s have been visiting the beach at the end of the summer for years and each year collect many bin bags full of rubbish left on the beach during the summer season. It’s a valuable exercise for the conservation of the wildlife on the beach and also teaches to the children involved about the dangers of littering.
